St Joseph metro Chamber Diplomats Club will hold a ribbon cutting at the Piatto 614 restaurant Friday.

The Italian restaurant in downtown St. Joseph recently opened its new lounge area.

Owner Chris Frangiadis tells us the back bar is an historic relic of the old Wooden Nickel on St Joseph’s south side.

Frangiadis says the new lounge provides another way for people to enjoy themselves while waiting for a table at Piatto 614.

He says they also “love wine and spirits.” In the lounge, they’ll offer half-price pizza and $4 cocktails during happy hour, 4-6pm and 9-11pm.

They also offer some special nosh in the lounge, in the form of “jars,” special flat bread with unusual and tasty spreads served in jars.

The ribbon cutting is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Piatto 614, at 614 Francis in downtown St Joseph.
