A Kansas man on Wednesday was sentenced to five years in prison for a drug sale that resulted in a fatal overdose.
Cherokee County District Judge Oliver Kent Lynch ordered David Tirrell, 35, of Scammon to serve 60 months for his conviction in January on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
The charge stemmed from a drug sale that resulted in the overdose death of Jordan Krokroskia.
As a result of this case, Attorney General Derek Schmidt has proposed legislation to increase penalties for those who distribute illegal drugs that cause great bodily harm or death. That legislation, House Bill 2044, is currently under consideration in the Kansas House of Representatives.
