Glenn F. Bower, 87, Hemple, Missouri died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born August 1, 1925, to Frank D. and Minnie (Long) Bower.
Glenn married Doris Lorraine Sill on December 29, 1945.
Mr. Bower was owner of Bower Construction for more than 50 years.
He was baptized at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bower was a member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #37, A.F. & A.M.; Stewartsville Chapter #175, Order of the Eastern Star; Thirty-Second Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine and past director of The Wrecking Crew; and Y-Fry Class 39. He was a former board member of The Kerns-Freeman Cemetery Association and a former 4-H project leader.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dena Bower Bachman; parents; and five siblings, Georgia Elder, Beulah Lenke, Margia Hector, Dale Bower, and Elva Ann Randol.
Survivors: wife, Doris L. Bower, of the home; daughter, Denise Kretzschmar (Vic), Hemple, Missouri; granddaughters, Erin Nash (Michael), Kansas City, Missouri, and Gwen Ford (Richard), Adrian, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Leah Ford; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Kerns-Freeman Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Anna Caroline (Keck) Tonnies, 89,of Maryville, Missouri died February 19, 2013, at Parkdale Manor.
1924 ~ 2013
Anna Caroline, who was known to her family and friends as Tolly, was born March 21, 1924 in Noel, Missouri to Charles Marian and Mable May (Marshall) Keck. She graduated from high school in 1941 in Pittsburg, Kansas and attended business school in Joplin, Missouri, where she met her future husband. Tolly and Robert Henderson Tonnies were married February 14, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri.
After WW II, Henderson went into business with Frank Culp in Skidmore, Missouri. The family moved to Maryville in 1945 and soon joined the First Baptist Church. Tolly was very active in her church. She served as a Sunday school a Bible school teacher and a member of the adult Sunday school group. She was the church treasurer for a number of years and acted in that capacity for the Laura Street Baptist Church when it was established. She was member of Eastern Star, The Mutual Improvement Circle, Soroptomists and was a Cub Scout leader.
Tolly worked as a bookkeeper for Culp Construction, J.C. Penney, Sears, Rush Printing and also worked as a Secretary for the Missouri National Guard.
She is survived by three children, Robert Henderson (Dana) Tonnies Jr., Charles Marshall (Nora) Tonnies and Anna Carolyn Tonnies; four grandchildren, Eric Henderson (Renee) Tonnies, Andrew Marshall and Ian David Tonnies and Jessica Lea (Josh Neff) Tonnies; three step grandchildren, Dwayne Joseph (Shally) Luzum, Dale John (Tamra) Luzum and Amanda Joy (Shawn) Barney; four great grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, parents, brother, Charles Leslie Keck, sister Mary Ester Ahrens, a grandson Mac Garrett Tonnies and a nephew Daniel Tilden Ahrens.
