Charges of statutory rape and statutory sodomy have been filed against a 32-year-old St Joseph man for allegedly victimizing a girl under the age of 16.

St Joseph police say John Howery gave marijuana and alcohol to the girl, and other minors.

A judge ruled that Howery poses a continuing danger to the victim and the community, and ordered him held without bond.

Police also argue in court documents that Howery has a past history for failing to appear in court, tampering, alcohol, interfering with arrest and stealing.

A hearing is scheduled next week to allow Howery to post bond.  Meanwhile, a preliminary hearing is scheduled March 15.
