Marie (Holding) Turner
1918-2013

Marie (Holding) Turner, 95, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born March 14, 1918 to James and Mary Holding in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Marie was a 1935 graduate of Benton High School. Her senior year she was “Miss Benton” and named to National Honor Society. She graduated from St. Joseph Junior College in 1937 and Maryville State Teachers College in 1939. While there she was honored in Who’s Who Book of America and a member of 1939 Royalty. She went on to teach physical education at Chillicothe High School.
She married Carl E. Turner of St. Joseph in 1940 and became a co-owner of Turner Plumbing and Heating. They shared a loving, devoted marriage for fifty-six years.
Mrs. Turner was a Girl Scout leader, home room mother, and active PTA member. She was also active in the St. Joseph Boat Club, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Y Women, Sewing Club, Stroke Club, Pearl Chapter OES, Bosian Eastern Star, Promenaders Square Dance and So-Dance.
She was passionate about her family and church, a great role model for leading a Christian life. She was proud to be a member of Francis Street First United Methodist Church for ninety-one years (joining in 1922). She also had a passion and ministry for remembering others. She delighted and amazed many by remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions with her cards.
After a major debilitating stroke at age forty-one, she, with the help of Carl, was able to lead a full and productive life and inspire all around her. She had a real joy for living, an amazing spirit and POSITIVE attitude. Her love of people and life will be remembered by all she touched. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, especially her daughters.
Marie was preceded in death by husband; parents; and sister, Dorothy Riley.
Survivors: daughters, Gale Turner, Florence, Massachusetts, Vickie Abell (Dick), Anchorage, Alaska; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Francis Street First United Methodist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Raymond C. Reno
1940-2013

Raymond C. Reno, 73, White Cloud, Kansas passed away, March 16, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 7, 1940 to Cecil and Betty (Browning) Reno in St. Joseph, Missouri, where he attended Holy Rosary and Christian Brothers Schools.
On August 4, 1962, he married Shirley Jean (Short) Rhodd. He retired from Armour & Company in 1983 after twenty-eight years of service.
Raymond was a drummer and singer with several bands. He was also well known in sports, especially in bowling. He was City Champion at one time and became a Pro-bowler in 1992 and was inducted into St. Joseph Bowlers Hall of Fame in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Theresa Schlup; and brother, Robert Reno.
Survivors include his loving wife; son, James Rhodd (Linda), two daughters, Kimberly Moore and Kristen Reno; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Ramona Gann (Bryan), Carmen Redmond, and Raelena Petrovick; brother, Alex Rainez (Jean)’ several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loved by many.
