Congressman Sam Graves says sequester budget cuts will NOT close the air traffic control tower in Saint Joseph after all. The Federal Aviation Administration had the Rosecrans tower on a list of 24 slated to shut down. Graves and other members of the Missouri congressional delegation argued that keeping the tower open is a national security matter. The airport serves the 139th Airlift Wing.
Graves says keeping it open is the right call. He says the FAA can find other areas to cut, including $500-million spent on consultants and $200-million spent on travel every year.
