Cameron Declares Water Shortage Alert

Cameron crossroads

Water shortages in Cameron have reached critical mass. This week the city declared a water shortage alert, imposing dramatic restrictions on water usage.

The city’s Ordinance 3877 imposes restrictions on washing buildings, flushing sewers and gutters, and watering grass.

The ordinance lists a number of other restrictions.

Serving water in restaurants, clubs or eating places is a no-no, unless a customer asks for it.

Use of water for dirt control or compaction is restricted, as is watering annual or non-woody plants other than vegetable gardens. Watering lawns, parks, golf course fairways, playing fields and other recreation areas is restricted.

Officials say the resolution will be in effect until the City Council declares the water shortage has ended.

Here’s the complete alert.
