The fire chief in the eastern Missouri town of Potosi is hospitalized in serious condition after the tanker truck he was driving overturned on the way to a fire call.
The accident happened Monday afternoon, injuring 51-year-old Richard Knight.
He was driving the tanker on Route 47 when it veered off the roadway and flipped, partially ejecting the chief.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it isn’t clear if icy conditions played a role in the accident. Troopers say the shifting weight of water in the tank may have been a contributing factor.
