Kansas Lawmakers Consider Expanding Concealed Carry

Screen Shot 2013-03-26 at 9.38.05 PM(AP) – The Kansas Senate is considering a bill that would expand the public buildings where concealed weapons are allowed and let public school and college employees carry concealed firearms.

Senators expected to give the measure first-round approval late Tuesday. Final action would then be Wednesday.

The House already has approved its own version of the measure, which would let school boards and state colleges designate employees who could carry concealed weapons in buildings where they’re otherwise banned.

The bill also says that state and local governments would have to allow concealed weapons in their buildings unless they have security to check for weapons at entrances. Generally, concealed weapons are banned if officials post notices.
