NWMSU men’s tennis blanks Harding, 9-0

riggertNorthwestThe No. 22 Northwest Missouri State men’s tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win over Harding University Thursday.

The Bearcats (9-3) completed their third shutout of the season and won their second match in a row over in-region rival, Harding.

No. 1 singles player Sergio De Vilchez won 6-4, 6-3 to pace Northwest to its ninth win of the season.

Jason Harris stayed perfect on the season at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 win over Caleb McReynolds.

At No. 1 doubles De Vilchez and Lluis Altimires needed a tiebreaker to pick up a 9-8 (7-5) victory over their Arkansas rivals.

Northwest, who moved up to No. 22 in the latest ITA/NCAA-II rankings earlier in the week, will return home to face William Jewell April 1.
