A 24-year-old Gallatin man is behind bars after allegedly raping his four-month-old child.

Bryan Scott Carter is charged with six counts, including statutory rape, statutory sodomy and two counts each of incest and endangering the welfare of a child.

In court documents, officials say Carter has confessed to having intercourse with the child Saturday in Gallatin.

The child was seriously injured and underwent surgery at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Carter is being held at the Daviess/Dekalb County Regional Jail. A judge set bail at $500,000.
