Bearcat women’s tennis team gets blanked at Kansas City

riggertNorthwestThe Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team struggled Tuesday falling to NCAA Division I foe Kansas City 7-0 at the Plaza Tennis Center.

Northwest fell back to the .500 mark at 8-8 while the Kangaroos improved to 9-13 on the season.

The Bearcats played two close matches at No. 3 singles as Alexis Bartek fell 6-3, 6-3. Quesada fell 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 position to Laura Bouet. Bartek and Camila Quesada both saw their winning streaks snapped with the loss.

The Kangaroos won the doubles point taking both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Quesada and Bartek did not finish at No. 1 singles as the two teams played Division I rules on Tuesday.

MIAA action continues to heat up as the Bearcats take on Washburn and Fort Hays State Thursday in Topeka. Northwest continues with all five of their final matches against MIAA rivals before the MIAA Championships begin April 19 in Springfield at the Cooper Tennis Center
