A veteran St Joseph police officer will not faces charges after a domestic dispute over the weekend that required a police response.

The St Joseph Police Department placed the officer on administrative duty pending their internal investigation of the case.

An investigative report was considered by Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney Dwight Scroggins.

His team also spoke with the alleged victim.

On Wednesday, Scroggins announced there was insufficient evidence to prove any criminal allegations.

“I have determined no charges will be filed as a result of the investigation,” Scroggins said in a news release.

“There is insufficient evidence from which to believe we could prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt in this matter, and no area where additional investigation would be of further benefit.”

The officer has been with the St. Joseph Police Department for more than two decades.
