The Northwest Missouri State men’s tennis team extended its winning streak to eight Saturday afternoon clinching a 9-0 win over Emporia State on Senior Day.
The Bearcats – who had a winning streak of six earlier this season – won its eighth straight and stayed perfect in MIAA action at 3-0. Northwest improved to 15-3 on the season as the Hornets fell to 7-11 and 0-6 in league play.
At No. 1 doubles the Bearcats earned their closest win of the day as Sergio De Vilchez and Lluis Altimires took an 8-5 win.
Northwest swept all six singles positions as well with Alvaro Riveros and Jason Harris each winning their eighth straight match.
Sunday’s match against Southwest Baptist is set for noon. The match pits the only two undefeated teams in MIAA action and will have huge implications on next weekend’s MIAA Championship.
