State Sent Confidential Citizen Records to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives

Gun signState Senator Kurt Schaefer wants an explanation from Governor Jay Nixon on why his administration shared confidential citizen information with two federal agencies. Schaefer says the Social Security Administration asked for a comprehensive list of Missourians with concealed weapon permits, and shared the list with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. He says that’s clear violation of state law.

Nixon announced Tuesday the Department of Revenue would stop scanning documents used in the permit process. The Missouri Highway Patrol admitted last week it had sent a list of conceal carry permits to the federal government.
