The Saint Joseph City Council has moved a step closer to sending a proposed smoking ordinance to a vote of the people. That tentative decision at a worksession Wednesday  would have to be confirmed during a regular council meeting.

The proposed ordinance would ban smoking at all restaurants and bars. That would include the gaming floor of the Saint Jo Frontier Casino, unless the casino commits to move downtown within six months of the vote.
