Authorities Identify Body Found At Wallace State Park; Hypothermia Blamed

Wallace State Park Lake2
Investigators today identified the woman whose remains were found at Wallace State Park last week as Janette D. Riffle-Hartley, 53, of rural Cameron, Missouri.

A maintenance worker at the park discovered the body near the lake on Friday April 19.

Investigators say an autopsy was conducted on April 20 at the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s office. Final results of the autopsy will be released in three weeks.

But the Clinton County Coroner blames hypothermia for the death, which she has ruled accidental.  Alcohol was confirmed in the woman’s body.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department continues the investigation with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.
