Authorities say two auto-theft suspects drove about fifty miles through northeast Kansas Saturday, fleeing from police with two flattened, passenger-side tires. Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie says the pair are facing a long list of criminal counts in Kansas.

More charges are expected in Missouri, where the suspects allegedly stole two cars in Platte County. With the owners in pursuit, one of them allegedly crashed and then opened fire on the owners. No one was hit by the gunfire.

The pursuit started in Platte and Buchanan counties in Missouri, then crossed into Atchison, Kansas, where spike sticks were deployed to flatten the tires. The fleeing suspects made it all the way to rural Nemaha County before getting stuck on a muddy road.

Sheriff Laurie identifies the suspects as 24-year-old Trenton Wiseman of Blue Springs, and 29-year-old Jacob Abney of Independence, Missouri. Both are being held pending formal court appearances in Atchison.

Atchison PD Officers and Atchison County Sheriffs Deputies apprehended the driver when the suspect vehicle became stuck on a mud road in Nemaha, CO. Abney allegedly jumped from the vehicle about a mile east of where the truck stopped. He was found in a ravine in a field about 700 yards north of the roadway with the assistance of the Highway patrol K-9 unit and other officers from surrounding agencies.
