A total of eight students were injured when their school bus ran off the road in St Joseph this morning.
St Joseph police say the bus slid off the road at Sixth and Green streets shortly after 8 a.m. Investigators say the vehicle went into a ditch and then hit a curb before returning to the roadway.
Officials say there is a steep hill at the intersection, and the road is narrow, without shoulders.
Nevertheless, officers issued a citation for careless driving to the woman driving the bus.
Captain Janice Rothganger says eight students out of twenty on board reported injuries, though none of the injuries were life-threatening. By mid-afternoon, three students had been treated at Heartland.
