Established in 1992, the Mayor’s Awards for the Arts recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant and lasting contributions in the arts in the greater St. Joseph, Missouri area. The Council invites artists, arts organizations, advocates, educators, and corporate citizens to participate.

“The Mayor’s Awards for the Arts encourage citizens to express themselves in areas that create culture and opportunities to experience an event, whether by participating or enjoying a relaxing evening being entertained,” said Mayor Bill Falkner.

Mayor Falkner will present the awards during a special ceremony held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Allied Arts Council on July 18, 2013.

Nominations are being accepted in the following categories: Artist of the Year, Arts Educator of the Year, Arts/Business Partnership, Youth Artist, Business Support of the Arts, Individual Leadership, and Volunteer of the Year. A panel of arts leaders from across the state selects the award recipients.
