Benton High School and Hyde Elementary were locked down this morning after a pedestrian found firearms, ammunition and drugs in a backpack and gun case among some trees in the area.

After authorities locked down the two schools, district staff and police searched the area. No other evidence was found, and the lockdown was lifted.

Officials say they found two firearms, some ammunition and some controlled substances. Authorities still do not know where the items came from or why they were left near the trees.
