Gregory Byrd Cox, 59, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, May 6, 2013 at his home.
He was born January 27, 1954 to Stanley and Julia (Funkhouser) Cox in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Gregory proudly served in the United States Navy and was a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University with a Bachelor of Science in anthropology.
Gregory enjoyed photography, it was his passion and he received several awards for his work over the years. Gregory sincerely loved the study oa American Indian anthropology and spent much time on the study of many tribes within North America.
Gregory was truly one of the kindest, most gentle souls on this earth and he will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors: sister, Cynthia Cox-McElroy (Robert), Fairfax, Virginia; nephew, Robert McElroy Jr. (Tara); niece, Elizabeth McElroy-Filan (Michael); great-nephew, Chase Dixon; great-niece, Riley Filan; aunt, Katherine Funkhouser; and cousins, Claudia Funkhouser-Everitt and Stephen Funkhouser.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg, Missouri. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
