An Independence, Missouri man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for enticing a seven-year-old girl to have sex with him.

Francis L. Morgan, 64, pleaded guilty in March to exposing himself to the victim and asking her to touch him.

Morgan previously pleaded guilty in Jackson County to statutory sodomy in the first degree and possession of child pornography for unrelated events.

Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd said, “This defendant victimized children over and over and over again. He molested a child for the first time in 1977. He more recently molested a child in Jackson County and also victimized a child in Platte County. His crimes against children end today.”

Judge Abe Shafer sentenced Morgan to 25 years in prison for enticing the victim for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct. He ordered the sentence to run consecutively to Morgan’s sentence of 20 years in Jackson County for statutory sodomy, for a total of 45 years in prison.

After being confronted by a witness, Morgan said, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” During his interview with police, he disclosed that he had sexually abused another girl, who was five years old, in Jackson County. Further investigation revealed child pornography on Morgan’s computer.
