Catherine M. Rice, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, May 13, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. She was born February 13, 1927 to Pasquale and Esperanza Hernandez in Fort Collins, Colorado. Catherine married Lawrence J. Rice on September 29, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Rice was a member of King Hill Baptist Church where she taught the primary choir and sang in the adult choir. She later was a member of Patee Park Baptist Church where she worked in the food pantry, played in the kitchen band, and sang in the choir. She currently was a member of First Baptist Church. She taught herself to play guitar and later gave lessons. She also enjoyed singing for the Lord. The most cherished things in her life were the Lord, her family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and great-grandson, Derek Underwood. Survivors: daughters, Rose Lee (Gene), Darlene Joy Johnson, and Angela Garner (Harold); sons, Lawrence Rice, Jr. (Tess) and Glenn Ray Rice; brother, Pasquale Hernandez; and numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Deborah K. Atkins, 53, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. She was born August 9, 1959 to J. Marvin and Estelle Lee (Friday) Atkins, Jr. in St. Joseph, Missouri. Deborah graduated from Benton High School in 1977 and was a homemaker. She was also a member of Bible Baptist Temple, a Girl Scout, and an Elvis fan. She was preceded in death by her mother; grandparents; companion, Douglas Hancock; and son, Aaron Hancock. Survivors: sons, Daniel Lonergan, Ada, Oklahoma and Christopher Snyder, Albany, Missouri; father Marvin Atkins, Jr. (Sharon); brothers, Marvin Atkins, III (Patti), James Atkins (Teresa), and David Atkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at a later date. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. John C. Plummer, 70, Guilford, Missouri, May 15, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.
John was born September 8, 1942, in Oto, Iowa to Mark and Helen (Zerfing) Plummer.
John was a self employed tool and die maker.
He married Lila Gardner Plummer on April 11, 1964, in Climbing Hill, Iowa.
He served his country in the US Army in 1958-1961.
Preceding John in death were his parents and brother Ken Plummer.
Survivors include his wife Lila Plummer of their home in Guilford, MO, and children Renee (Kevin) Wolf, Barnard, MO, Mark (Kim) Plummer, Kearney, MO, Monica Plummer, Graham, MO, brother Jim Plummer, Rapid City, SD, sisters Marlene Harold, Council Bluffs, IA, and Barbara Wiggs, Sloan, IA, grandchildren Steven, Nikk, Emily, Payton, Reece, Noah, Avery, Shelby, and Alex, great granddaughters Caitlin and April, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, Mo.
