Paul R. West
1958-2013

Paul Robert West, 55, died on May 17, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith C. West, and his Grandparents, Paul and Rosamond (Pierce) West and Robert B. and Margaret J. (Dodd) Chesney.
Paul was born May 7, 1958 in Lawrence, Kansas and spent most of his school years in the St. Joseph area, graduating from Central High School and Missouri Western State College with a degree in Economics. He later moved to Topeka, Kansas where he received a Doctor of Law degree (J.D.) from Washburn University. After being admitted to the Kansas Bar he spent most of his working years as a Fiscal Analyst for the Kansas Legislature. As a non-partisan employee he assisted the legislature in arriving at a balanced budget and reflecting the same in legislation.
Paul is survived by his father, William E. (Ed) West; daughters Alessandra Chesney West, Topeka, Kansas and Elaine Diane West, Boulder, Colorado; sisters Julia O’Dell (Steven), Lansing, Kansas, and Susan Noland (Doug), Kansas City, Missouri; nieces Sarah Haught, Amanda O’Dell, and Katherine O’Dell; and nephews Joseph Berrigan and Robert Noland.
Memorial Service: Paul has been cremated. The family will hold a celebration of Paul’s life at a later date. The family suggests memorial gifts to the St. Joseph Public Library or Hands of Hope Hospice. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
