Police Investigating Shooting Outside Atchison Bar

policePolice say two bystanders were injured by stray bullets when someone pulled a gun during a disturbance early Sunday in Atchison.

Around 2:00am, someone pulled a gun and fired several shots, hitting two bystanders and vehicles in the area before fleeing outside of Quinlan’s Irish Pub on Commercial Street.

Police chief Mike Wilson says witnesses have been reluctant to give out information to police so far.

Chief Wilson says with the number of witnesses in the area at the time, somebody has the critical information police are seeking.

“We early on had descriptions of several vehicles that left the area.   One vehicle in particular we have since identified, it’s not necessary the shooter but it was someone we were interested in,” Wilson said.  “But we still think that there were people outside that can give us a description or perhaps a name of the shooter, but that information has not yet crossed.”

The two bystanders were treated at a hospital for non life threatening injuries.

The disturbance began with fighting and arguing inside the bar and spilled outside.  Police have found shell casings outside of  what is believed to be a 9mm handgun.

If you can help the investigation, your asked to call the Atchison Police Department.
