Summer school in the St Joseph School District is right around the corner.
Summer School Coordinator Charisse Giseburt says the session starts May 28.
You can enroll right up until your child attends classes. Giseburt says if you put off enrollment, you should expect it to take a little longer.
This year, the elementary schools will offer enrichment subjects, including a class on ancient Egypt and one on bugs. They also offer remedial programs in math and reading.
Middle schools offer a program called “Bridge to Middle School,” in which new students can explore the building and find their lockers. They offer core class work in reading, math and science as well.
In the high schools, they offer a number of enrichment classes, such as “Marketing,” “Fitness for Life,” and “Personal Finance.” Students can also make up a half credit in corea areas.
Ms Giseburt points out that in most cases, attendance can be “flexible,” so you shouldn’t worry about your child missing a week because of a summer vacation. But, she says high school students making up classwork must complete 60 hours in the classroom to get the credit.
Giseburt says you can get more specifics at the district’s web site, or call your school directly.
