Mildred Jean Lain

1923-2013

Mildred Jean Lain, 89, Savannah, Missouri died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. She was born December 25, 1923 to David C. and Lula B. (Cunningham) Stuard in Ranger, Texas. Mildred lived most of her life in Artesia, New Mexico. She married Raymond C. Lain November 10, 1941. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2009. After raising her children she worked as a cashier supervisor at K-Mart for ten years. Mrs. Lain was a Baptist who loved God and her family greatly. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers; and two sisters. Survivors: three children, Janice Albright (Jimmy), St. Joseph, Raymond C. Lain (Marisela), Carlsbad, New Mexico and Dan L. Lain (Jennifer), Franklin, Tennessee; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan “Jo” Embrey

1933-2013

Joan “Jo” Embrey, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. She was born December 8, 1933 to Webb and Helen Embrey in St. Joseph, Missouri. Jo was a member of the St. Joseph Public Library Bookmobile from 1967-1977. She was preceded in death by her parents; and cousins, Fred Rudolph and Steve Bertram. Survivors: cousins, Tom Bertram, Maysville, Missouri, and Woods Rudolph, Scottsdale, Arizona; and friends, Flora Henlon and Sandi Gerstner. Services: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, Missouri. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Dennis M. Barnes, 66, St. Joseph, Missouri died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at his home. He was born July 4, 1946 to Thaddeus and Elaine Barnes in St. Joseph, Missouri. Dennis was a restaurant manager for several chains. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Darrell (Dee) Smith and David Barnes. Survivors: son, Dennis Barnes, Jr (Linda Crews), Springfield, Missouri; grandsons, Brandon and Michael Barnes; sister-in-law, Barbara Tippit; niece, Shana Schuemann; nephew, Casey Smith; five great nephews; and one great niece.
