Missouri Man Drowns In Fishing Accident

Missouri State Water patrolThe Missouri Highway Patrol says a 64-year-old man has died after falling from his boat in a fishing lake in southeast Missouri.

Sikeston resident Oscar Shannon was pronounced dead around 2 p.m. Monday by the Mississippi County coroner.

Authorities say Shannon had been fishing on Upper Big Lake in the Robert Delay Conservation Area.

He lost his balance and fell overboard while trying to tie a rope to a tree.  The body was recovered near a cluster of trees in the lake.
