A man with 35 prior traffic convictions has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after a road rage incident in Platte County.

Bradley W. Ise, 39, of Platte City, received the sentence on May 28 following a February jury trial.

“This defendant received a sentence to match his crimes,” said Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd.

 

“Even though no one was seriously hurt as a result of his dangerous conduct, twenty years in prison is appropriate for a man who has menaced our roadways over and over again.”

Ise has more than 35 prior traffic convictions but, to prosecutors’ knowledge, had not served more than 120 days in jail prior to the July 2010 incident that led to the 20-year sentence.

Prosecutors proved at trial that, on July 22, 2010, Ise was driving a black Chrysler 300 which he intentionally rammed into the back of a red Chevrolet Impala traveling on Interstate 635. Ise did not stop at the scene of the first crash but continued driving.

Moments later, Ise intentionally swerved into a white Ford Fusion on Interstate 29 near 64th Street, spinning the car into the median. Ise again fled the scene.

A jury found Ise guilty of second degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of first degree property damage, and driving while revoked.

 

Judge Abe Shafer sentenced Ise to 10 years in prison for assault, four years in prison each for the property damage counts, one year in jail for leaving the scene of an accident, and one year in jail for driving while revoked.

Judge Shafer ordered those sentences to run consecutively, for a total of 20 years. He also ordered the prison term to run consecutively to a prison term Ise is serving in Kansas, where an earlier probation was revoked as a result of the July 2010 incident in Platte County.
