St Joseph police arrested two people for allegedly stealing flowers and other decorations from several grave sites at four cemeteries in St Joseph.

Officials say a witness saw them taking the flowers at Memorial Park Cemetery and wrote down their license tag number. When officers arrived at their home, they found flowers in their yard.

St. Joseph Police arrested Steve Estes, 61, and Janice Collado, 51, Tuesday at their home on the 2800 block of Patee Street. Collado posted bond of $500. Estes was transferred to Buchanan County authorities on unrelated charges. Both await possible municipal court appearances.

The Meierhoffer Funeral Home is holding the returned items. If you believe your flowers were stolen you can visit the funeral home’s front desk Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

By mid-morning, officials at Meierhoffer said “hordes” of people had inquired about the graves of their loved ones.
