
A soldier who grew up in the Kansas City area has been killed in action.
The Pentagon announcement says 23-year-old 2nd Lieutenant Justin Sisson was one of two soldiers killed in a suicide bombing on Monay. Sisson grew up in Overland Park, and graduated from Blue Valley West High School in 2007.
Sisson, along with Specialist Robert Pierce, 20, of Panama, Oklahoma, were killed June 3rd. The Defense Department says their unit was attacked by a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device..
Both were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
