More than one in ten school buses inspected this year by the Missouri State Highway Patrol were rated as defective, awaiting repairs, or pulled out of service entirely as unsafe.
Superintendent Colon Ron Replogle says the patrol inspected a total of 11,890 buses.
Inspectors approved 88.3% of all buses during their initial inspection.
In the St Joseph School District, 98 buses were inspected, 96 were approved, and two were listed as defective and in need of repairs.
The patrol allows districts ten days to make those repairs, but allows the buses to remain in service in the meantime. You can download results from all over Missouri at this link: 2013 Results by Troop
