A text-message scam is going around Leavenworth. Even the County Attorney received the message, which tells you your credit card is about to be deactivated.
If you dial the number in the text, you get an automated message instructing you to enter your credit card number.
This is a scam. The message on the phone identifies the institution as Frontier Credit Union. But an alert on Frontier’s Web site says such calls or texts are not from their company.
County Attorney Todd Thompson says he received the text. He urges you to be on guard when giving your credit card number out, evenif it seems legitimate.
Frontier’s warning continues: “If you receive one of these messages, please rest assured that this is not a breach of the credit union’s systems. These messages are being sent to large blocks of cell phone numbers that include both Frontier members and non-members.”
