Junction City Kan. Police Seize Cash from Motorist

cashThe Junction City Police Department seized $828,220 following a traffic stop on I-70 around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

According to Tim Brown, Junction City Chief of Police, a JCPD K-9 Unit stopped a westbound pickup truck on I-70 with Colorado tags being driven by Marshall H. Dion, 78, Tucson, Az, for a traffic violation. During the stop the officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle and located boxes containing the US currency in the bed of the truck.

“I think this is the largest amount that has ever been seized to my knowledge in Junction City, Geary County,” Brown added, “I don’t ever remember in my entire career that much money being seized.”

Geary County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted with the case. Dion was booked into the Geary County Jail and is being held without bond until a first appearance in Geary County District Court.
