Livingston County authorities are investigating another report of fraud this week.

Sheriff Steve Cox says a scam artist somehow convinced a Livingston County citizen they had won a large sum of money from a foreign country.

The suspect told the resident they needed to wire money to get the process started. The citizen was scammed out of $1,500 and the criminals requested and additional $5,000.

Sheriff Cox says if you receive these emails, letters or phone calls, the best practice is to simply ignore them.

He says scam artist often continue harassing you until they get the last possible dime from you and will never deliver any money, goods, or show up to pickup a purchase.
