Second Harvest is gearing up for No Hunger Summer which starts Monday.
The No Hunger Summer program helps feed children over the summer in St Joseph.
Four sites will host the Second Harvest cafe program until mid-August. Each cafe site will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Each location will provide for children and families five days a week. Kids 18 and under eat free. The program will include giveaways this year and include special guest throughout the summer.
“We serve 1,000 kids through Backpack Buddies in St. Joseph during the school year. When the school year ends, so does Backpack Buddies,” said Christine Feuerbacher, director of programs at Second Harvest. “The burden to families in the summertime is enormous. No Hunger Summer gives us an opportunity to nourish all children and to meet a need that would otherwise not be met.”
The four locations are:
Bode Ice Arena, 2500 Southwest Parkway
The Edge Church, 5801 King Hill Avenue
Woodson Chapel,2525 St. Joseph Avenue
Brookdale Presbyterian Church,203 South 31st Street).
