Armon Thompson

Armon Thompson was sentenced to life in prison Friday for a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of a St Joseph teenager in 2010. Judge Patrick Robb also ordered a 100 year sentence for armed criminal action. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Jordan Bartram was shot and killed while sitting in her car.

The incident was one of a string of shootings in the neighborhood around the 2900 block of Lafayette.

Officials believe it was an attempted act of revenge. A co-defendant, Calvin Ford, pleaded guilty and is serving a 30-year-prison term in the case. Ford testified against Thompson.

Thompson is charged with another drive-by shooting in that same month that left Genea Weston with critical injuries. He’s charged with 1st degree assault and armed criminal action in that case.

Judge Robb granted a change of venue in the upcoming trial. Lawyers will try the case in St Joseph, but will pick the jury from a neighboring county. That trial is scheduled in December.
