Thousands of veterans, active military personnel and supporters are expected tonight as the St Joseph Mustangs host the U.S. Military All-Stars at Phil Welch Stadium.
Active and veteran military personnel get in free, while youths and seniors pay just two dollars at the gate.
Mustangs General Manager Rick Muntean says they are expecting around 3,000 people to attend. That’s easily the largest gate of the year for the Mustangs.
Muntean says they’re offering a huge fireworks display after the game. They are offering a special tribute to the military before the game and a huge fireworks display afterward.
“Two years ago, we had a kid who was on the Bin Laden detail in the ocean,” Muntean said. “When we introduced that young man, and said he’d just gotten off the ship, and was on the detail that buried Bin Laden, they exploded out of there seats.”
“It was the loudest cheer, and explosion out of their seats, in my thirty years in baseball.”
