The St. Joseph Mustangs suffered their second consecutive disappointing loss Tuesday as they fell in 12 innings at Sedalia, 3-2.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball team falls to 24-17 and 20-17 in the MINK League. They are now four games back of Clarinda in the North Division after the A’s defeated Chillicothe, 6-3.
After a walk-off loss Monday at Clarinda, Sedalia got a walk-off win as well Tuesday as Mustangs’ pitcher Steve Moyers hit Nick Delorenzo with a pitch when the bases were loaded and the winning run came in to score in the 12th inning.
The Mustangs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning as Joe Koerper hit a two-run home run, but that was all the offense St. Joe would have the entire night.
St. Joseph had just three hits on the night and none after Koerper’s home run.
The Mustangs could only muster four base runners after the fourth inning and only one got into scoring position.
Sedalia scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game. They had just five hits and only had three infield hits until a leadoff double in the 12th.
Redmond Floyd started for St. Joe and went 6.1 innings. He allowed just one hit, two runs, struck out nine and walked five.
Moyers suffered the loss as he went four innnings of relief. He gave up three hits and one, while striking out six batters.
Koeper had two hits for the Mustangs, while Griff Gordon had the only other hit in the game.
St. Joseph returns home Wednesday as they host Chillicothe inside Phil Welch Stadium. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on 680 KFEQ and here on StJosephPost.com.
