You’ll notice a lot more Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers along I-29 during rush hour.
Captain Duane L. Robinson, the commanding officer of Troop H, says there will be an increased patrol presence on the interstate in Andrew and Buchanan Counties.
In a news release, Robinson says the enforcement program is the patrol’s response to a recent increase in crashes that have closed the highway.
He says troopers will be enforcing all traffic laws, but will pay close attention for speeding, drunk driving, following too closely, improper lane changes and failure to yield to emergency vehicles.
Troopers will also be adhering to the Patrol’s zero tolerance policy for seat belt and child restraint violations. Hours for the operation will coincide with high traffic volumes and will continue until September 30, 2013.
“The safety of the motoring public is our priority,” Captain Robinson said, . The Missouri State Highway Patrol is committed to highway safety.”
Captain Robinson urges you to telephone the Patrol if you observe any vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. Drivers can use the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s toll-free numbers for reporting emergencies. These numbers are 1-800-525-5555 or cellular * 55.
The Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves from all types of hazardous drivers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Click It 4 Life!
