Spiders In Olathe Briefly Halt Airliner Takeoffs At KCI

Spiders in Olathe caused a brief problem with airline fliers in Kansas City.

Authorities briefly halted flights at Kansas City International Airport Saturday afternoon.

Airport officials held up takeoffs for about ten minutes at KCI because of a spider infestation at the radar center in Olathe. That station tracks flights once they take off from KCI and reach a specified altitude.

A spokesman for the FAA says the spider infestation did not affect flights in the air.
