WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita police say a 12-year-old boy told them he was driving a car to get his dad and a friend, who were both drunk, something to eat.

Police pulled the boy over early Sunday because the car was being driven erratically. A passenger, who police say appeared to be intoxicated, was with him.

Police spokesman Sgt. Bart Brunscheen says the 12-year-old told police his father was at home and intoxicated.

The passenger allegedly had gone to the family’s home and said he was too drunk to drive but wanted something to eat.

The man asked the father if he would let his young son drive him to get food and the father agreed.

The passenger was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and the father was listed as a suspect.
