Ruth Elaine Swymeler
1921-2013
Ruth Elaine Swymeler died Thursday, September 5, 2013. She was born March 1, 1921 to Roy and Nellie Kline in Maitland, Missouri. In 1938 she graduated from the Mound City High School. She married Clinton Swymeler of Mound City, Missouri on March 18, 1939. They farmed two years at Mirabel, Missouri and sixty years in Andrew County, and then moved to Mound City. Ruth worked at LaVerna Village in Savannah, in the dietary department and retired from there in December 1984.
Mrs. Swymeler was a member of the Antioch Church, Fillmore, Missouri, a former member of the Shiloh UB Church of Maitland, past president of the Antioch Auxiliary, and volunteered with RSVP at Laverna Village.
Ruth was a wonderful and kind mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a great grandson, Matthew Swymeler; brothers, Allen R and Richard Kline; and a brother-in-law, Bob Gilland.
Survivors: two sons, Ronald Swymeler (Becky), Woodburn, Indiana and Rodney “Yogi” Swymeler (Katheryn), Mound City, Missouri; two daughters, Joyce Drydale (Loyd), Wichita, Kansas and Gaynell Waggoner (Harold), Franklin, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Dorothy Gilland; and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Janis Kline.
