A Northwest Missouri man ordered to prison Monday tried to escape the Nodaway County courthouse.
23-year-old Christopher Edward Barry of Bolckow was sentenced to 120 days of shock time. He was on probation for forgery but did not meet the conditions of his probation, and the shock time sentence was ordered.
After the ruling came down, while handcuffed, Barry tried to flee the courthouse. He made it to the steps outside the courtroom before the Nodaway County bailiff shot the man with a taser.
Barry fell down the stairway and had minor injuries but is back in custody. He was treated at the hospital in Marvyille before heading back to the county jail, where he was awaiting transfer into the Corrections Department.
More charges are now pending for his attempted escape.
