Missouri House Fails To Override Veto Of Tax Cut Bill

Missouri StatehouseThe Missouri House has failed to override Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto of a bill cutting state income taxes.

The override vote on Wednesday was 94-67, well short of the 109 votes needed. Several GOP lawmakers side with Governor Nixon, a Democrat.

The legislation would have cut income taxes for both businesses and individuals.

Gov. Nixon traveled the state to warn that the measure would also jeopardize education funding, and included what he referred to as a tax increase on prescription drugs.
