Bearcat soccer drops 2-1 match at St. Cloud State

Northwest2013riggertThe Northwest Missouri State women’s soccer team lost a tightly contested match Friday to St. Cloud State 2-1, moving their season record to 1-2.

Both teams were able to score early in the first half with the Huskies scoring first during the 5th minute to go up 1-0.

Anna Calgaard was able to answer back with her second goal of the season off a pass from Katelynn Lindsey in the 8th minute to knot the game up at 1-1.

The Bearcats outshot the Huskies 10 to 6 in the second half but were unable to capitalize while SCSU found the back of the net in the 47th minute for what would eventually be the game winner with a final score of 2-1.

Northwest will travel to Winona State to take on the Warriors (0-1-2) Sunday for a noon kickoff. The Bearcats will return home Sept. 20 and play host to Lindenwood as they open MIAA competition.
