Mrs. Emily D. Repulski
1921-2013
Mrs. Emily D. Repulski, 92, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away comfortably on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Saxton Riverside Care Center.
She was born January 23, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri to David and Eddie McCoy, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph in 1939 after attending Old Spring Garden School and Benton High School. She married Robert Repulski of Minnesota in St. Joseph in 1951. Emily and Robert were divorced in 1964, and Robert died in 1979 at age 53.
Emily worked at the B-25 Bomber Plant in Kansas City for two years during World War II. She was proud of her “Rosie the Riveter” designation. After the war, she worked at Lederle Laboratories, Beltone Hearing Aid Service, and retired from Wyeth Company in 1986 after 21 years of service.
In her youth, she loved to ride horses and roller skate. She participated in athletic activities in high school (soccer, ping pong, and archery). As an adult, she loved sewing, playing table games, and bowling with her close friends and work associates. After her retirement, she traveled to Arizona several times to visit friends. She visited her son David in Colorado on several occasions. She was treated to a 10-day, 2300 mile trip around the state of Colorado, visiting nearly every point of interest.
She is also preceded in death by her brother, W.L. McCoy in 1956 and her sister, Virginia “Ruth” Garrett in 1995.
Survivors: son, David Repulski, St. Joseph, Missouri; nephew, Jay E. Garrett (Ginger) Easton, Missouri; two grand nephews; and several grand nieces and nephews, all living in the St. Joseph area.
Services: 1:30 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
