The U.S. Department of Labor announced Wednesday that Missouri State-West Plains received $2.5 million and Ozarks Technical Community College was awarded $2.2 million. Also, three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff received $2.75 million and St. Louis Community College is part of a consortium of colleges that received $23.9 million.

The labor department says it awarded 57 grants for a total of $474.5 million. It says the money will support 190 projects in at least 183 schools to expand programs in growing industries, such as advanced manufacturing, transportation and health care.

The grants are part of a multi-year, nearly $2 billion federal program to expand training programs for unemployed workers.
