Residents in the Livingston County area are once again being targeted by telephone scammers.

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox says several people report receiving phone calls from an unknown person or business that offers to help them with Medicare or Obamacare issues.

In the end, the caller asks for your bank account information, which should set off personal alarms.

“It is safe to say any calls like this are a scam,” Cox says, “and the caller is attempting to get access to your money. 

“The best thing to do is simply hang up.”
